On 5th February, 2021 various stakeholders drawn from the public and private sectors from different parts of the country, will meet in Dar es Salaam to participate into KAIZEN promotional activities. The 2nd National KAIZEN Day is scheduled to take place at Kisenga LAPF International Conference Centre – (KLICC) in Dar es Salaam. This annual event will be inaugurated by Hon. Geoffrey Mwambe (MP), Minister for Industry and Trade. Other expected distinguished guests include: H. E. Shinichi Goto, Japanese Ambassador in Tanzania; Hon. Exaud Kigahe (MP), Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade; and Mr. Naofumi Yamamura, JICA Chief Representative. Key stakeholders in KAIZEN implementation in the country will have opportunity to share their experiences on achievements made by practicing KAIZEN. The winners of the 5th KAIZEN National Competition (KNC) will be announced and awarded during the occasion. On other hand, participants will have opportunity to share their views on how to make better preparation of the AKAC2021, scheduled to take place in June, 2021. Lately, the Government has launched the Framework for Quality and Productivity Improvement (KAIZEN) in Manufacturing Sector (FKM, 2020–2030). The Framework focuses on putting in place a well-designed training program, a sustainable mechanism of geographical coverage and an effective strategy for engaging the public and private sectors for continuously promotion of KAIZEN. In addition, as part of annual event for knowledge sharing, the Tanzania National KAIZEN Day was introduced last year and the 1st NKD was held in Dodoma. The National KAIZEN Day is an important platform for knowledge sharing in a way of speeding up the awareness creation and encourages participation of stakeholders to KAIZEN implementation in the country. KAIZEN is a Japanese evidence-based problem-solving process that enables people to improve a particular situation with minimum resource and maximum wisdom. With JICA support, the Ministry of Industry & Trade (MIT) has been implementing the project for enhancing sustainable competitiveness through adoption of KAIZEN philosophy in manufacturing sector.
